I have 3 shelties2 boys and one female she is find now we waited for her seconds heat to breed her to the male that we had at the time.he was 2 years of age then.she had 3 litters with the same male.the last litter she only had 2 pups.so we gave one to my grandmother and we kept one.thats when we got her fixed.now my oldest male was the best dog I have ever had but 2 weeks before his 7th birthday he started losing his balances.we toke him to the vet the next day that it started.all testcame back good all the vet could tell us that maybe he had a stroke or a brain tumern.he tells us that he could do a MRI but it will cost us thousands of dollers and if it is something going wrong in his brain they could not do anything for him any how so they gave him a shot of steroids to comfortable and sent us home that nite he wad back to his old self.but a week later it started all over again but this time it was worse he started having seizurestthey were so often that it broke my heart as much as I loved him I could not watch him go throw this so we had him put to sleep worsed day of r life.now remember we kepted one of his pups he just turned 4 in July and 2 days ago he started to lose his balance.I need help is this commen with this breed.is there something that we can do.their got to be something.we cant be the only people going throw this.
 
I am sorry for your loss. I don't know what is wrong with him, but I STRONGLY advise you not to breed your dogs. Professional breeders work very hard to produce healthy dogs and spend YEARS studying the breed before they ever breed. I don't mean to offend you, but it's very important that you know this. Praying you dog is better soon and that he doesn't have the same thing his sire did.:no:

The vet who saw the father is the best option to talk to about this and explain whether this is genetic, environmental, or what.

I second this. Hopefully none of the puppies you have sold or given away go through the same thing. If you want to get into breeding, you need to get into health testing and having a healthy pedigree behind your dog. Sounds like you need to "start from scratch" and find a mentor in your area who actively shows their Shelties in AKC. They can teach you everything you need to know. Grooming, health, showing, and breeding to better the breed. Knowing the AKC standard and breeding dogs that are health tested and have a sound mind and body are ESSENTIAL. For all breeds, really.
