Neutering

I just had my most recent rescue in for the big snip... He has a skin disorder, so it was kind of a no-brainer to take him out of the gene pool. But I've had my other boy snipped as well, and he could have easily been a good stud dog. My whole opinion revolves around the fact that I have to drive past the animal shelter on the way to work everyday and see the signs that they are 2 and 3 times max capacity in spite of euthanizing animals daily. I can't stand the thought of one of my boys slipping out and adding to that statistic.
So I like to think that if you aren't planning on breeding, go ahead and get that little "surgical insurance policy", plus from what I've heard, the health benefits outweigh the negatives.
Good luck with your new boy!.
