Hi Everyone

After spending so many days at the Sheltie Nationals this last week I have been greatly inspired with Rally-O and Beginner Novice Obedience and have decided to title one of my dogs! All of them with the exception of Mandy have their CGC but I have not pursued earning a title on any of my kids due to my responsibilities with rescue.... As rescues none of my dogs have an AKC registration so I have requested a PAL (Purebred Alternative Listing) for my little Lacey-Lou. She is the most advanced in obedience and will work off leash with me in the training ring (but not at home). We are currently in the new rally signs class on Tuesday night. Her performance was perfect in her first session but mom has a lot to learn about foot work and sign reading... We are having fun with it and that's all that counts. It's a pretty busy night for us as I am still training the Kinder Puppy class at 6 PM and now have a Basic Obedience class of my own at 7 PM which right after the puppy class... Then at 8 PM we have Lacey-Lou's Rally signs class. Both of us will be draggin' our wagons when we get home at night. Lacey acts as demo dog in the puppy and basic class before she has to do her signs class.. and I'm on my feet from 6 PM to 9 PM before we're done. But it's WORTH IT.

Who would have believed that my most out of control brat of a puppy could be my little star. It just goes to show that with training and patience anything is possible. We won't be able to compete in the April AKC show in my facility as her PAL isn't due in until after the that date but we will be more than ready in June!

This is Lacey-Lou

She weighs 9 pounds and is 12 1/2 inches.. I call her my pocket rocket!

Nothing like a National basically in your backyard to get some inspiration!

Rally is fun to watch and it's quite easy to perform. By the time the PAL numbers arrive, you'll be ready to trial, especially at the Novice level! Lacey Lou may have been your "out of control" little girl, but oftentimes they are the ones with the most drive and desire to learn...not always, but oftentimes.

Surely Lacey Lou can perform from 6-9pm, but the question is can her handler - haha! When you love something, it never gets old and it seems we're never tired, that is until the class is over. I'm in class from 4-9pm on Wednesdays and it's not until 9pm when I'm packing up crates that this old body starts to look forward to the drive home.

Go for it Sunchaser! There's a wealth of knowledge on this board if you need some help or you want to brag! Everyone likes pictures here too.

OH....you are going to be hooked!

We have so much fun getting our girls out. For Vinca we got an ILP because she is definitely all Sheltie, but if I were to do it again I would just get a PAL. The ILP required a little more paperwork.

Good luck!

yay Sunchaser- you will love competing in rally:yes:
It really is fun and the dogs can succeed in Novice and feel great:smile2:
so when they get confidence, off-leash is fun too:winkgrin:

Rally is such a total gas! Lacey Lou will surely shine in this sport. It's amazing how it's given Beckon the confidence he lacked before,

PAL and ILP are essentially the same thing- paper application and pictures. Neither is the same as the mixed breed registry. Callie has a PAL and my mix Happy had the Mix breed number that started with MA.
