Hello everyone!
My family and I just rescued a sheltie in New Hampshire. He is about 8 years old, named Charlie. He was actually taken from a puppy mill here in Maine last August. He then was sent to New Hampshire was placed in a foster home which adopted him. Then about a month or so ago, he was given back to the New Hampshire Sheltie Rescue for some reason. Then we adopted him on June 25, he returns back to Maine. He is a sweet boy, needs a lot of care, love and stability. He has made many strides being here.
We also have another sheltie that we have had since a puppy. She is 10 years old, named Princess. They have become really good friends over the past few weeks. It's amazing watching the two of them. Princess, has had cancer in her rear leg twice and the cancer is totally gone now. She has a hard time moving around. With Charlie, she moves around better, always wants to see whats happening. Charlie walks around with her, side by side.
Princess barks all the time:smile2: Charlie has not barked once. Everyone I have talked too said that he will bark when he feels comfortable. He is getting very comfortable. He has taken over the couch as everyone says. We are waiting for a tail wag, but not one wag yet.
When Charlie arrived he couldn't walk on a leash, scared and would freeze. Now, Princess and Charlie go for short walks together in the evening. They both know when it's time for the walk and look forward to the walk.
We are very happy with both are shelties, they are fun to have around. They each have their own personalities and are loved so much.

Welcome Cheryl and Mark

Glad to have you on board ! Sheltie hugs to Princess and Charlie. Thank you both for opening your home to Charlie. It's to bad that he was placed in rescue taken to what he thought would be a forever home then rejected again. I'm sure the previous owner must of had a reason. But now he is in a forever home. Enjoy your new home Charlie!:biggrin2:
I'm sure you will enjoy the forums. We have an increasing number of members here of people who are owned by Shelties. Where in Maine do you live? I live in Landaff, NH. It's a small town just north west of Franconia Notch.

Thank you Elaine and Judy,
We live in Windham Maine. When I retire we want to move to the White Mts in N.H. Windham has grown over the past 10 years to a suburb of Portland. We have a high rate of crime for a small town.
Our daughter is going in her Junior year of High school. She loves shelties also. Charlie at first was very scared of females, not sure why. We have all worked with him and now he sits on the couch with us. Princess use to get up on the couch before her cancer and now she doesn't even try anymore.
We find it very sad that Charlie has been tossed around after being taken out of the puppymill. He is a good boy and we are very happy he's a part of our family.

Welcome! Charlie is so lucky to have found you and Mark. It sounds as if Princess is working her magic to help Charlie heal, and in turn, he's helping her, too. That's the magic of Shelties. :smile2:

Welcome to the group! Lots of good advice here! I'm so glad that Charlie was adopted by you and your family! That is really great that he and Princess are helping each other out! I think shelties do better in pairs! Post some pictures when you can, we all love to see pics!! :biggrin2:
