I am a new memeber to Sheltie Nation. I have Skye who is almost 2. I have owned a shetlie years ago, Andy, who not only saved my life once, but twice from a house fire. I love Shelties, and feel blessed to have Skye in my life.

Unfortunately, my husband in trying to help me took Skye to a groomer for a bath, and nail trim. Groomer says, "Would you like a shave?" Husband replies, "Yes," not know what the groomer's definition of the word ment. My husband thought shave ment, "a trim under the tail area" Needless to say, I now have a shaved sheltie that looks like a coyote . So... after reading some other similar stories, does the fur grow back, and how long does it take?

Poor Skye! :lol: It is amazing the number of people that think shaving them is a good idea. I am not sure on how long but Sca got a poodle leg (IV for having a tooth removed) in May and you cannot tell now that it ever happened
 
Why would they even ask that question? Who doing grooming would shave a dog that is suppose to have a beautiful coat? It isnt July or August going through a heat wave, it is fall heading towards winter. I bet your baby will have the fur growing in quicker then anyone expects? I have to ask what was your husbands reaction when he pic up your babe? Did he realize this might not be kosher?
 
Don't feel bad, I did that to my Beau the summer before last,(thinking I was doing him a favor) he came upstairs looking like a little mini ridge back not a sheltie. I was traumatized. I promised him I would never do anything like that again to him. I just find other ways to humiliate him, like singing to him in public:lol:

His hair eventually did grow back, it took the whole summer, but, it really does grow back
