Hi to all,
I found this forum by complete accident, and am I glad I did. I' am Pat by the way I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada, I have two Purebred Blue Merle Shelties my old boy is Currie me is 13 and my young lad is Ceasar and me is 3, I would call myself a unique dog owner as I take my critters everywere, they eat what I do (most of the time) and I treat them as if theynwere human. Here's the upshot; Ceasar absolutely loves sauerkrat, that dog will eat absolutely anything, as for the old boy is much more selective.

I worked for a guy back in 1994 who had a Blue Sheltie, I was at that time a young man who was just about to move away from home and wanted to get a Dog, we were raised on a Farm and had Labs all of our lives and this fellow I worked with said I will get just as much satisfaction as getting a Sheltie as any big Dog, I got my first Sheltie and he was right ( and I always got to bring him to work with no problems as he loved Shelties ) I have had my old boy for 13 years now and have also been blessed with a dog that has had little to no health problems, now in his senior years he is arthritic and I got to help him in and out of the truck and on and off the bed but I will always be greatful that when my friend passed away he left me with two very important pieces of advice in life. Always have a Sheltie by my side and always buy Fords and you will never go wrong, so far at the age of 35 either have ever let me down.:smile2:

Welcome from Ontario. Your friend gave you good advice about the Shelties. You will never go wrong with one in your life. I had a blue Sheltie for nine years and lost him suddenly to an unexpected illness. I have also have two, a sable girl and a tri boy. Wouldn't be without them.

Don't forget we love to see pix. You can either become a premium member or use a free photosharing site and paste the link to your pictures.

PS - good advice about the Ford. My Dad always told me to buy from the big three, but to buy a truck from either GM or Ford. I now drive a Ranger.

Hi Pat and welcome to you and your shelties. Yes shelties are very socially acceptable pups which make life so much easier. Of course they great in every other way too......... Welcome
