Yesterday in Rochester both Birch and his dad Grizz earned their AKC OA(open standard) titles with a 1st for Birch and a 3rd for Grizz. They also both earned a novice FAST leg with a 1st for Birch with 73 points and a second for Grizz with 68 points. Grizz also picked up his 2nd OAJ leg with a 1st place today.(I had to work)

Birch ran a really nice excellent jumpers course and was prefect right up to the weaves 3rd from the end. It was his hard entrance as he was coming full blast out of a tunnel. He was actually back to missing all his entrances on the first shot.:( 3 were pretty hard(2 out of tunnel and 1 a steep angle and he wasn't the only dog to miss it, a lot did) but the 4th he should have gotten and he looked like he was loosing confidence. Sigh back to the drawing board. I am not really sure how to help him figure it out except keep practicing. Once he is in he is fine.

What do people do to help proof entrances? FYI if I put on a guide he hits it everytime no issues. I feel like it is a focusing issue and partly not wanting to slow down and on occasion confusion and lose of confidence.

Anyway I am super please with him everything is looking great and ready for excellent(except the weaves) he doesn't turn 2 for a month.

Sorry the picture was blurry, a thunderstorm was coming and I had to hurry.

WooHooo that's awesome gang, that Grizz is coming along nicely, too, isn't he!!?
Congrats to you and Rachel!!

uhm.. u know... have you considered 2x2?
Even if you just set up one set of poles and reward after he gets the entry, he may figure out how to do it?

Congratulations Birch is really coming along.
I work entries around the clock and will add in a tunnel at varying angles to work on hitting the poles at speed.

Congrates, sounds like a great trial for you all. I kinda Had the same problem with Storm on Saturday and last night at Practice with weave entry so I know where you are coming from. Gets a bit frustrating when one week they are hitting it every time and from every which way but loose and then a few weeks later it's like they never saw a set of weave poles in their life before. ;)

Well I shouldn't say that she was making the most beautiful blasting entries last night Just one pole too far down the line, LOL

Congratulations! Were you and Rachel being competitive about the placements? :)

Nah, we were both just hoping for the Q at this point. It is fun competition between us. I do have a feeling Grizz is more ready to move though excellent though. But Birch is almost there. His Excellent JWW was beautiful just the darn weave entrance, but I saw him trying at least.:smile2:
