New Rally Regulations coming in April!

I don't know if I missed a post on this topic, but there are many changes in the works for AKC rally effective 4/1/2012. New signs at every level. Rally Excellent is the most affected. Lots of new wording in the regulations and judging guidelines. Check it out. I wish I knew how to post the link....sorry.
 
Ok I quickly looked at the new signs. I didn't read the whole thing but 2 signs immediately cause me concern. Signs 208 and 210.

Rally is suppose to be a stepping stone into obedience. But signs 208 and 210are counter productive to utility training. In obedience, you would never teach you dog to go from a stand to a sit at a distance unless you want HUGE issues with your signals. Also you would never teach a dog in obedience to go out over a jump and then come back around a jump unless you want HUGE issues with your go outs and retrieve over the high.

Now Ember is experienced enough that she knows the difference but Diva is just starting utility training and she will not be learning to sit after a stand until she is really really solid at signals. I have seen so many dogs get stuck in sits during signals as it is that I would never teach that to a green utility dog. I guess Diva will get her RE before April or after she is done with Utility.
 
I know. It looks like it's gone up several steps in difficulty level. The changes are so counter to the recommendations of the rally advisory committee last year.
 
I know some people who are trying for those titles before April because ofthe changes. I guess the scoring is like obedience, where "in the vicinity" of heel position is no longer acceptable. No more leading either I guess. I should sit down and read the, through.
