Night Sleeping

I've read that you should leave your pup in the crate 1hr for each month of age. In Sadies case that would mean 3 1/2 hr. During the day the most I've left her is 2 hrs.

At night she sleeps for 6-7 hrs. should I wake her up or just let her sleep. I put her out as soon as she wakes up. Is that ok?

She should be fine at night. They are normally able to hold it longer overnight while sleeping than during the day. At 8 weeks Riley had been able to sleep 6-7 hours in the crate at night without issues. I did carry him to the door in the morning as a precaution though.

What I found with mine is that if I had him empty out at least 2 more times without anymore water intake before putting him in his crate for the night sleep, he can hold for 10 hrs straight still able to gobble down his breakfast in the morning before going out to empty! :eek2: Although Mozart is currently 17 wks old he was able to hold it out till after breakfast when he was 11 wks old. Guess he has been practicing! I think the calculation is more for during the day when there's till regular water intake but don't count on it if the puppy has been playing.

NOOO do not wake her unless you want to for the rest of her life be getting up in the middle of the night to go out..its creating a habit you dont want!! my puppies can usually at 7 weeks go from 11pm-6am without issue and by 8 weeks im stretching it to longer time spans..
The only time mine get let out at night is when its the emergency canon butt and they are quite vocal at letting you know its an emergency...even the other dogs join in sounding the alarm as they dont want that smell near them:lol:
