Nike's 2nd Run Thru

Nike had his second run thru yesterday, and once again he surpassed my expectations! Every time we go out there, he looks more and more confident, and SO happy. He has totally found his niche in agility!

The run thru went really well. High points are his awesome stays, from the table and the deck jump. He also is now running on the dog walk, and while he swirled a bit before the weaves, the entry was solid and he drove through. Improvements for next time, we bobbled the deck jump. I need to train a more automatic sit on the first panel, and I definitely didn't power him down effectively. Working on it for next time!

This run thru garnered him approval from the club instructors for him to move up to the Intermediate class. I can't wait to get him to the first Int. class, as we've been practicing all sorts of fun handling drills at home. I'm so anxious to see how he likes a more complicated course!

My whole club is so supportive of Nike, and I'm so grateful to have found the perfect place to train and boost his confidence. The instructors believe he'll be ready to trial by our club's UKC agility weekend in June, and I can't wait!

The video does have one of my AKK, Eli, doing his Int. II run thru. He did really well, except for our silliness on the table. :smile2:

Thanks for letting me share Nike's success with you all. :smile2:

Nike is looking great. He is doing so well. I love how he took that swing bridge with no problems that was not Justice's favorite piece of equipment,

Eli is alos so cute. I love how he sneeks a peek at the camerea person as he runs by and his antics on the table remind me of a certain Malamute I know. Too excited.

Good job.

Great job! He did really good. I'm not familiar with UKC, so I'm not knowledgeable with the obstacles. Did he have to sit before the deck jump and after?

Nellie (most likely) has a run thru tomorrow also!

Nike seems to be doing very well, very nice contacts, and Eli looks to be a little spitfire. Enjoyed watching and glad everyone is having fun after all that's what it's all about.

Loved both videos...the dogs both looked great.

And I'm with Nellie--I definitely hadn't seen all those obstacles before! Those are neat.

Yes that is the UKC platform jump. In comp, there is 2ft line(box)around the platform in Ag 2 and 6 ft line/box in Ag3. The dog needs to go to the first platform sit jump the bar and then sit again. Handler can not cross the line. UKC has a different focus, control and accuracy rather than pure out speed. Justice did very well in UKC agility. None of my other dogs have competed in it. Diva would stink at it ,not her style. It was a very nice venue to start in though. I think Miss Ember would do well someday.

I made a mistake, it was the sway plank that Nike did so well. The sway bridge I didn't see.

our club is UKC so few obstacles are different. Deck is sit-over-sit.
Great job Nike and Eli! Thanks for posting videos! Course seems pretty interesting to run and they both did very nicely!

Thanks for the compliment, that obstacle spooked him a couple weeks ago when a dog slammed down the teeter in the ring *right* next to the plank. Nike seemed to take that as the plank was out to get him, and we worked hard on loving the plank again before this run thru!

Thanks for the nice words everyone, I'm so pleased with how much Nike enjoys this!

Looking great!

Isn't it amazing when agility clicks with the dogs, and it just increases their confidence. With Vinca, the confidence has traveled outside the agility ring into her life. She shows more confidence now with strangers, walks, obedience, rally, etc. I attribute it all to agility, and how she feels like she really is succeeded at something and bringing joy to my daughter.

It is an amazing sport!
