The strongest part of a sheltie is in there throat, iow there bark bark bark bark bark bark. The more they use it the stronger and louder it gets. They don't need anything to bark at. They just like to BARK. I know the barking comes with this breed. Our first sheltie didn't bark this much, ever.
But I do think the barking will lessen when she gets out of her puppy stage and is allowed to be with us all the time. Now she still has to stay in the kitchen behind the puppy gate. All the molding in the kitchen will have to be replaced when she is done with it. She has so many chew toys that its hard to walk in there but she still likes the molding on the floor and around the doors. OH well I put it up and I can replace it.
She is not our first puppy but at my age (70) and how long shelties live she will be our last.
