"Now" or "Acana" food

So, I've been looking into dog foods, and decided to go with a more moderate protein diet. I'm still uncertain whether I'll go grain-free or not, but I've narrowed it down to "Now" or "Acana" food. I'm just wondering what your take is on these foods...does anyone use them, which ones and what's your personal review on them? I'll be talking with my vet tomorrow to get his input as well.
 
My pups eat Now!

I had both my pups on high-protein, grain-free diets. First it was Orijen, then I swiched to Horizon Legacy after Bacca went off his food.

Then he was diagnosed with hypo-thyroid, followed shortly after by extreme levels of ALT/ALS - both indications of liver dysfunction.

After consultation with my vet, I took the boys off high-protein and moved to Now! Adult Maintenance Diet. It is a much more moderate protein but still grain free. They've both been on it for a couple of months now.

They love, love, love it! Bacca goes back for bloodwork on Wednesday, so we'll know then if the reduced protein (24%) has made any difference. I'll let you know the results.

I also looked at Acana, but it was not available at my local store. But I also thought it a good choice when I researched it.
 
Thanks Barb! Please do keep me posted. I noticed the Acana grain free is around the 32-33% protein, whereas Now is at %26...They both look good, just wasn't sure if that would still be considered to much protein (yet not as high as Innova and Orijens). I love the fact that they're both produced locally (well, Acana is not far away, and Now is next province over).
 
I have no experience with either food. They both look decent to me. I feed my Bailey california natural lamb and rice puppy formula because she has a sensitive stomach. It has 28% protein. The adult formula has 21%. I'm going to switch her in a month or two to the adult.

I don't want to feed Bailey a high protein or a low protein. I try to look for food that's in the middle, so mid 20's is what I look for. I'm also thinking about feeding her Innova red meat (not evo), which has 24%.
 
I feed Now and have for some time. I love the ingredients and the fact that it's moderate protein ... neither my vet nor I believe in feeding high protein foods, unless the dog is doing agility or another high performance activity. My dogs love it and have done very well on it -- so well that I've had to cut down the amount they get to avoid the pudgy puppy syndrome!

I recommend Now highly!
 
I didn't know you were on Now! For some reason, I thought you were feeding Orijen?

Anyway, I'm glad to see that it's working for your pups too! I think 24% protein is a reasonable level. I just hope that Bacca's bloodwork comes back well, else, I will probably be forced to look at some crappy k/d diet.
