My 6 year daughter recently got a night light that projects an image on the ceiling. Dusty will stare at the ceilng, then run to the outlet where it is plugged in, nudge it with his nose, which moves the image. Even during the day when it is not on he will do the same thing. So I have been unplugging it during the day, but now he will stare at the outlet where it used to be, then back to the ceiling. I guess the good news is he doesnt bark at it. 
I can get him to focus on me if I talk to him, but he will go back to it at various times during the day.
