Now I know why when Blaze was in the emergency hospital needing to wear the "cone of shame" (Elizabethan collar) 24/7 for days, the tech shaved his little ruff. Blaze has been wearing a cone since the 19th (neuter) and the fly away hair on his ears and neck is a mess and he's ultra sensitive to where the cone must have rubbed. Haven't a clue how to make it nice again (no mats) but can't wait to take the cone off without any danger of him licking and getting the wound all infected.

Now that Blaze is two weeks out from his neuter, made an appointment with the groomer at the vet's so maybe she can get out those mats of that fly-away ear fur without hurting him and having him move away because of it. Have no idea how (my frequent brushing doesn't do a thing and I was told not to even try to cut them out--vertical snipping of the mat followed with brush out.) The appointment is for tomorrow so I'll see what magic this groomer can do then--hopefully he'll be mat-free again but, at least he'll have a bath out of this.

I use a really fine tooth comb ( not quite a fine as a flea comb but close) to get the matts out of Pipers fine fur around the ears but it's so easy to miss a matt. The breeder showed me how to cut them out, you just run your scissors through them with the blade of the scissor open ( my scissors are super sharp) and then I just comb it out, works on those ones you miss.
