One Jump Jump Drills?

Our yard currently has some drainage issues (yay home ownership?) so weave-pole bootcamp may not be able to happen this winter.

So, I was thinking of the other big project...Jumps! We never really taught Lexi to jump.

But, it's winter. And our yard is wet. So I was thinking maybe we could work single jump drills in the basement.

Any ideas? :) Just want to work on technique. Lexi just sort of launches herself over jumps without much thought. I don't even know if there are that many single jump drills out there!

(Of course I plan on consulting with my trainer, but I thought it would be nice to hear if others have ideas!)

I like shaping jumps.
Here is DJS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVGiaPj-wP8
Goal, reward each and every success, rear awareness- lift off from the rear, parallel ¨stick it¨ landing. Sessions should be very short as it is difficult for the dog.
Part 2- after dropping food near the jump, second treats gets thrown farther away to reset the dog which allows dog to come to the jump from different angles.
Here is our first shaping session for rear crosses, more than 1 jump but idea the same. You can see each dog offering various behaviors initially, I find it cute:biggrin2:

The big things that we work on with one jump is doing lateral distance and popping a single jump and keeping his feet up and tucked.

I sit Trax right in front of the jump, like having his nose one foot away from the bar. I kneel on the other side of the jump also right in front of the jump and call him over to me and into a sit position. It's helped IMMENSELY with his dropped bars and has really taught him where his back legs are.

As for the lateral distance, we work with our dogs a couple of strides away from the jump and move out to the side more and more and then move him back further and start again moving out to the side again.
