One of Cali's "pads" is ripped.. Should I worry?

Cali was outside with me for most of the day picking up sticks and sucking up leaves with the tractor so I have no clue when or how she did it, but I noticed a bit ago that one of her "pads" has a big chunk missing out of it.. The piece is still there, but its like a hangnail as its all peeled back. Its not actually on her feet, but its the pad that is midway up her front leg. It does not seem to be bothering her and there is no pain so should I just leave it alone and let it fall off? There is no blood although it does look a bit pink underneath like new skin. Most of her pads are black so I am assuming its new skin under there. Should I try to cut the "hangnail" off or just leave it be and let nature take its course? Thanks for any tips :)

I am actually surprised that I have not had a problem with this before now as she is sooooo rough outside when she is running around! I have seen her nearly run into trees trying to get to her ball or frisbee! I am trying to be really cautious as she still has her dewclaws still and I definately do not want to have to make a trip to the emergency vet if she tears one of them off!

Ideas?

If everything looks good, just leave it.

Re: dewclaws. I've had dewclaws on 3 of my 4 puppies. (Well, only 1 is a puppy now.) I've never had one rip off. I've had a regular nail rip off, though!

Cool I will just leave it be and keep an eye on it.. She just worries me about hurting herself because she is so rough! She is a tough little booger, I just would hate to see her get hurt while she is having fun.. I guess it really is a way of life though!

My puppy is extremely active (jumping, running everywhere!) and he still hasn't torn a dewclaw-even when he got it caught on a blanket.

As long as you keep them trimmed (like you trim the regular nails) so they don't curl too much, they shouldn't get caught on too much.
