WE had our first trial in advanced yesterday, I was deliberately limiting it to one day and ony 2 Runs a snooker and a jumpers.

The snooker run: was awesome Cosmo's control was excellent speed was good
not blazing but good enough dad should have counted better I though we needed to get to #5 but we needed #6 which was 12 weave poles. Cosmo did everything I asked perfectally including 2 back calls and a pull around the tire we did get to #6 on the closing the weave poles but timed out with 2 poles left to complete #6 Total first place & 36 points 1 shy of the Q. Considering when I first looked at the course I said to my wife that there was no way we were gonna get anywhere near what we need for a Q I was really happy with his effort... Yea Cosmo Very Happy Dad for our first advance course run 2 thumbs up. Looking back over the course there were really no other options for us anyway over how I ran it to get us in a Q position without doing #6 we just needed to complete the weaves and didn'T quite make it. There were only 6 Q's out of 37 runs on this course so it was a toughy.

The adv Jumpers Run: HE started a bit slow but OK, right in the middle of the course there was a jump tunnel jump tunnel sequence, as some of you know I have been working for almost a month now with his slowing in the tunnels and I though I had it licked, at least in the practice hall :o, well sure enough he hit the first tunnel and it was like someone slammed on the brakes he took forever to come through once out I got him going again barely and then tunnel # 2 was OK , Much better then #1 but still slow, once out there was a large 6 jump sweeping circle with a chute decoy leading to a 6 jump 40 degree angled in sequence, He picked up speed in the circle did the call off the chute great and when I told him out and showed him the exit sequence he finally took of running full blast IT was like someone hit the after burners LOL and did the last 6 jumps like a pro at full speed , unfortunately too little to late. The SCT was 39 sec we crossed at 45 Ouch clean run but slow we finished 4th in a 7 dog field. THe slow start and the tunnels killed us here basically the first 1/3rd of the run the second third was acceptable and the last 1/3 of the run was like woopiee alright that's what we want. so we need more work on jump tunnels, Ho hum, if I could have got him to run like he did on the exit sequence we would have aced it no problem.

SO lots to work on before the next trail sometime in april, Overall a good day
he seems to be haveing a bit more fun out there, I know I am with my little bit lighter attitude as well, and I was happy that we seem to be making at least some headway towards where I would like to be with him.

I have some video just didn't get to it yet.

slow through the tunnels is one thing- I have a friend whose dog (non-sheltie) will stop in the tunnel and roll around in it. talk about time issues........
anyway, she's been doing short sequences- entering in trials like NADAC and ASCA to practice with the dog. so if he's doing good- then big party and she doesn't even finish the course and goes to get him his favorite cookies. Her posts about the last few trials, it seems to be working since he's been running better and actually finishing the course.
So keep up the good work- it'll come:yes:
