Paw/Pad Problem

Welcome aboard! Sorry your Sheltie is having problems.

The paw looks inflamed & irritated between the pads. Has she been licking her paw a lot? Is it only the one paw? If so, you might check for something stuck between the pads causing the irritation. The pad looks rough from a lot of licking, which dries it out and causes it to granulate and crack. If she's showing redness on more than one paw, it could be allergies to grass or something else in the environment.

I would definitely make a vet appointment to have this checked. This kind of thing can drive a dog nuts, digging and licking at an itch that won't go away. Let us know what you find. Good luck-
 
my old sheltie has this on his feet, also on the pad behind the declaw would be...doesnt bother him and they vet never said anything about it...I always attibuted it to a form of a callus, as he used to run alot on bricks.
 
Welcome. I am sorry that your sheltie is having paw problems. It does look inflamed to me. How long has this been going on? Has it been getting worse? If it has I would go and get it checked out, but first do check to make sure that nothing is lodged inbetween the toes like Dave said below.

I'd say a vet visit is due. That looks like an awefully irritated paw. She may just need some Balm to help the pads out but I'd rule out an infection first.
 
The color of the pad itself doesn't bother me as much as the redness between the pads. The yellowish part could just be a callus, Sadie has something similar but its not quite so prominent.

Best take her to the vet to have it checked out, it does look quite irritated
 
I agree with everyone. I would have it checked out to make sure that there isn't something going on in there. As for the yellow/cracking of the pad, one of my girls has that as well. It doesn't bother her so I assume it's just the way their feet age over time.

Thank you all for your quick replies. The pads (in between the toes) are are little red, but not inflamed. I think the picture makes the red look a bit worse than it actually is.

I did see the vet last month for the anual, and showed it to her and she said it seem like nothing to worry about.

As you suggested, I'm going to double check closely to make sure nothing foreign is in there.

I was most conserned with the yellow bristeling, but you guys seem the thing is could just be a callus.

I'll keep you updated.
