Peeing on the bed

Darcy has been really good until this past week he has been waking up in the middle of the night and peeing on the bed. I pick up water at 7pm and we go to bed at 10pm and I take him out right before the lights go out. Last night was the second time I work up to wet sheets  Sometimes he'll even make a fuss on the bed so I will wake up and take him out but he hasn't recently. I guess he will have to be crated again :(

Any words of wisdom??

Two words: crate him :smile2:

If he can hold it in his crate he can hold it when he's out, he's just not realized it yet.

We had more or less the same problem when Sadie was a pup, only not at night. If we didn't let her out every hour on the hour when we were home she'd have an accident, but she could hold it no problem when she was crated.

I agree with OntarioSheltie.

Go back to the crate. It's rare that they will pee in there. Bacca only did it once a few days after we brought him home at 8 1/2 weeks. He has never peed in the crate since. However, when outside the crate, I used to have to bring him outside hourly.

We've not had a pee accident either inside or outside the crate in months.

Good luck!

Back to The Ol' Crate!

I agree with them! Caliber did the same thing...and I went back to crating him. It was long after that he realized he could signal me when he needed to go...whether I was sleeping or not. I keep the crate by our bed, and altho I haven't had to crate him in other then pooping issues, he got a lot better and caught on. Since then he's slept in the bed with us, and whines and sticks his nose in my face if he needs out. We haven't had a tinkle accident is a loooooong time. It's just been the occasional poopsie oopsie now and again. Which usually only happens when Daddy's in charge. lol

Good luck! I'm sure it'll work out for you! :biggrin2:

Crate

I agree with using the crate. It worked for Treader. Although once he did go pee-pee in there. He tried to cover it up with the blanket in his crate. Smart boy.:biggrin2:
I made him stay in there every night for about a month, then I tried letting him loose in the house at night again. As long as I let him out right before I go to bed, he didn't potty on the floor.
And ever since I started him on raw, he doesn't have to use the bathroom as often. So, he very rarely has any accidents now.

Squirt occasionally has accidents`in the night. The thing with him is he is like a kid who pees the bed, he is asleep when it happens. I have woken up when I feel the wetness, reach for him and he is asleep and his whole belly is wet. He doesn't`purposefully do it. He never pees anywhere else even on the occasion when he has been home for more then 10 hours.
