So incredibly versatile…I cooked it in my instant pot (you can bake in the oven) and then saved the seed, dried the skin and have so much pumpkin purée! I’m now straining it because it’s very wet but I’m going to add the liquid to the dogs food. I’ll probably make some dog cookies as well as pumpkin pie!
The dogs LOVE the pumpkin skin!
I must’ve gotten 4 cups of pumpkin from 1 pie pumpkin.
If you see them in the store buy them! Very economical!

How long did it take you to dry?

I did chicken breasts - they were an absolute hit! Brought baggies in to share with my class last week - this week, you should have seen the dogs when Deacon and I walked in.. they knew I had yummy stuff last week!

I did the basil from my garden but books said to dry it on low - took 2 days! (For us, not the dogs - lol) Still have parsley and oregano to do.

I cheated a bit a dried the pumpkin skin on high…I dried it overnight and it was crispy in the morning. The dogs love it! I dusted it with a bit of cinnamon and I did taste a small piece and I found it unpalatable :ROFLMAO: but hey it wasn’t for me lol. I’ve still got 3 more of them and I might use a melon baller to scoop out little balls and dry it like that. Great way to have pumpkin on hand when you need it!

We always cook down pumpkin. This year I got 14 cups from one neck pumpkin - that would make 7 pies! Shelby LOVES pumpkin and is always right there waiting for some. I always have some in the freezer just for her. I never thought about dehydrating the skins- great idea. I may have to try that next year.
