Poor Bela is sick again

Yea Bela! Glad to hear she's doing better. Now if I can just get our foster Balto well. The garbage his owners were giving him (Purina One) is going into the trash as did the junk treats that came with him. Going out today to buy some canned pumpkin to mix with his Canidae grain-free kibble.

Well, Miss Bela-Boo (embarrassing nickname, but that's my girl!) is back to her self. Except for one small thing - she is now even MORE spoiled.

It never ceases to amaze me how Shelties are the masters of dog-human communication and manipulation. She's now learned that putting her front feet in mom's lap results in lots of petting. So now she DEMANDS petting by draping herself over me and staring intently into my face, while her back legs do the "stomping" motion.

I always ask her what she wants. She now knows "Are you thirsty?", "Do you want on the bed?", "Are you hungry?", "Need some love?" and "Time for Bed". She'll tell me which one by smiling and barking and dancing around a little. Shelties are so smart, it blows me away sometimes.

Oh well, I enjoy spoiling her, and I'm with her a majority of the time, so it's really no big deal. I am sometimes ashamed of myself, though, having trained so many competitive obedience dogs, and now having two dogs who walk all over me.:confused2:

I am sooooo happy Bela is better. And just remember, a dog is only spoiled if you think what they're doing is obnoxious. Personally, I enjoy making Layla, Annie's, Bitsy's and Beckon's life as happy as I can. If that means they know how to "request" things of me, so be it.
