Puppy food + issues

Michele is right, throwing up bile isn't unusual with dogs and I was also told that it occurs after they haven't eaten for a while. I think giving her a bit of a snack at night regularly might help. Perhaps a few spoons of baby food (ours like chicken or turkey) which would be mild for her stomach. You could mix in a kibble or two as well. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for replying!! Funny enough, as soon as I took her off the Innova and just fed her the Castor and Pollux w/a little warm water and tsp of canned food, the heaving in the AM has stopped! Well at least for the past 3 mornings it has. I have been feeding her 4 meals a day with her last one being at night and she SO FAR seems better that way!

I have read somewheres that this could be a matter of her being so hungrey, that some dogs have been known to have this issue.Just something I read once.

It has happened to me even.Kinda like a reflux problem, but I have hunger pains so,I could almost be sick. I'm not sure about dogs, but I'm sure someone here has seen this with thier babes and could enlighten you more than I.

Thank you guys for replying!! Interestingly enough I stopped feeding the Innova and just gave her Castor and Pollux for puppies w/ a little warm water to moisten and a tsp of canned food and she's been fine since. I also feed her 4 meals a day with her last one being around 9-9:30 before bed time. Do any of you feed with Castor & Pollux?

My prior Sheltie loved the Castor & Pollux. And she was a Sheltie that turned her nose up at most food items. She never hoovered the floor. Considering how sick she was she never threw up the C&P food. I tried my new pup on that brand, but for whatever reason she just didn't care for it. She actually eats the Innova with the Merrick canned. Personally, I think the C&P is a great food.

I tried my puppy on the Innova and I think it was a bit too rich for her. I did the weaning process VERY slowly, but she didnt seem to like it. It's interesting, so many people have never heard of C&P, even the local small pet food store who has been in business for 30 years hasn't heard of it. Thankfully I can get it at Petco!

So how old is your new pup?

Castor & Pollux is a local Oregon Company which is located in the Portland area. I had originally changed over my prior Sheltie, no transition, when she was having issues with throwing up the Nutro Natural. Nutro is still having issues and allegations of health problems realated to their food for the last two plus years. She never threw up the C&P even when she was very sick.

My current pup is almost 20 months old. She seems to be flourishing on the Innova with Merricks. Right now she bounces as she prances down the sidewalk, her coat is getting so thick. When the vet was checking her out the last time, everyone was getting tickled because he was having a hard time looking at her butt because of all the hair.:uhoh:

Megan is 15 weeks old this week and like your 20 month old, she bounces and prances as she walks too, so cute and funny! My beloved Golden Retriever who I ADORED, thrived on Science Diet and so do my cats. Megan is the only one on C&P, but I don't want to change if she is thriving and on a premium puppy food. BTW, what is Merricks?
