Puppy Food

I feed Bacca Purina Pro Plan Chicken and Rice Puppy Formula, recommended by my breeder.

It may not be the best out there, but Bacca seems to thrive on it. He seems to enjoy the taste (from bowl set-down to empty in 5 minutes flat!). His coat is healthy and his stools so lovely and firm!:rolleyes2: (pathetic how pleased I am with that!)

I didn't know that I should switch away from Puppy formula at 6 months though....I'll have to take a look at the bag and see what it says. Maybe THAT's why Bacca is turning into the Incredible Hulk!?

I think that as long as it works for you, don't change it. My dogs were on Lassie Natural Way (which isn't a good food) for almost a year and they did well on it and I didn't change foods until the store quit selling it.

Romeo, who is now 6mths, was on crappy Eukanuba from the petstore then I changed him to Canidae whem I got him at 3 mths, which I read on the Internet that it was good. Then thinking he was a puppy and had special puppy needs, I put him on Wellness Puppy (both dry and canned), except he didn't take to it very well and had the runs for over a week. I switched him back to Canidae and all is fine!

THEN he didn't really seem very interested in his food - unlike most dogs, he wouldn't run to the bowl when I put it on the floor. He IGNORED IT. This, coupled with the fact that Canidae has since changed its formula (and many on the Internet have complained that their dogs can't take the new one), made me rethink his food. He's now on half home cooked (using the recipe in William Cusack's book (http://home.att.net/~wdcusick/ShetlandSheepdog.htmland half Canidae (bought a huuuge bag of the old formula). I would put him on fully home cooked meals but I'm concerned about him getting adequate vitamins.
