Question about collars for Rally

I just started taking a Rally class with Edan and CJ (well CJ this past week, Edan will join in next week due to his surgery).

I know for trials you need a flat buckle collar (martingales are up to the judge). I only have martingales for the pups so that means purchasing a new collar for both of them. My question is, would a rolled leather collar be acceptable?

I picked up these at Petco yesterday, http://www.petco.com/product/10989/...ollars-in-Mahogany.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch; a pink one for CJ and a black on for Edan. Before I take the tags off, I wanted to make sure rolled leather would be acceptable.

Thanks for the help.

Yes rolled leather are ok. My dogs all wear them. Diva has a pink one, Ember torquosie and Justice Black.

I have never seen a Judge not except a martingale though. At the last show I was at it seemed half the dogs had martingales on. However they may look at them as they do look like prongs the way it comes off the neck. So if you don't want the judge looking at your dog(which can throw some dogs off). Go with the rolled leather.

My Lexi did rally thru RE wearing a rolled leather collar. It's a great choice, because they don't tangle the hair as much. Be sure to remove any dog tags...and Good Luck! Most of all HAVE FUN!!!

I bought the martingale collar for Callie specifically to compete in Rally.
I don't have my obedience/rally regulation book here with me but I'm pretty sure that martingales are not a problem.
All three wear rolled leather daily :smile2:

When I saw the title of the thread, my first thought was, "you can have mine". LOL. But, I had to buy "special" things for my "special" dog. I think while you're doing that, I'm going to work on Miko's rally stuff. You got me excited about it again.

Chris, that's the good reason for me NOT to use my martingales. They are their every day collars and have their tags. Guaranteed I'd forget to remove them.
