My Sheltie loves snow and the deeper the better. Usually this isn't a problem in the Okanagan Valley as deep snow tends to melt in just a few days. This year has been different and so I am trying to find something that will help prevent ice balls from clinging to my pup while he bounds through the deep white stuff. Specifically, I am looking for recommendations on boots and a snowsuit or rainsuit.
For boots I already have a set of Summit Trex by Ruffwear and they have worked really well in the dryer winter weather when I needed to protect my Sheltie's paws from cold and road salt. With that said, they aren't fully waterproof and therefore aren't as well suited to the deep wet snow we have now. As such, I have been considering a set of NeoPaws. Does anyone here have experience with this brand and, if so, what are your thoughts on them. The other boots I considered were Muttluks, Ruffwear Polar Trex and Canine Equipment Ultimate Trail Boots but none of them come in size that would fit my dog. Are there any other boots that are worth considering?
As for protecting more of my dog I was considering a snowsuit like the one made by Muttluks but I'm concerned it would be too warm for a Sheltie. I notice that Muttluks also makes a rainsuit and wonder if this might be better for protecting a Sheltie's arm pits and sides from ice balls. Does any one here use either a snowsuit or rainsuit to protect thier sheltie? Thoughts/recommendations?
Thanks!
