Rain slicker help!

One time DH forgot to take a hamburger out of the camper freezer when we got home from a trip (in the middle of summer). When I went to pack the camper a few weeks later I thought something got in and died. It was the most disgusting thing ever.

Replacing the refrigerator would have been very expensive so we tried getting rid of the odor. We packed the refrigerator/freezer with newspaper and changed it every day. Eventually the newspaper absorbed all the smell and we didn't have to replace the fridge.

So maybe you can pack in a box of newspaper and change it daily.

Good luck.

At last smell -- we are down from the highly toxic exactly like mothball smell to the plasticy smell you would expect from a new vinyl slicker.

I am going to leave it alone for a couple days and might do the vinegar - dryer combo again.

I like the activated charcoal! I might just give that a try for a couple days too. I didn't know newspaper can wick smell too!

Definite progress. I figure if I just do thing after thing, I will get there. Every time we go out, I wash the slicker along with the crate bedding since everything gets drooled on. I line dry normally. I will just keep throwing this in with the bedding or shop towels to give it multiple washings. Watch, after ALL this work, she will get over being carsick.
