Sable with black patch on tail?

My little sable boy changes his looks almost weekly - he is almost 8 months old. Black on the tail is normal, and quite cute
 
My pure for sable (does not carry black) Collie has that black patch on her tail. Totally normal, doesn't mean anything. They are still sable.
 
It's surprising how diverse sable can be. It's more unusual to see a sable with no other colour in it's coat.

Makes it easier for us to tell them apart :wink2: Not like friends with Goldies or labs - they sometimes have to look at the collar to see which one is theirs, we can just look at the markings.
