Sage...Rolling Face In Grass??

Sage vomited this morning. White substance. He also drank a lot of water when he got out of bed. He had a rough night with the firewoorks. We brought him upstairs, had the a/c going along with a fan to relax him. He finally calmed down after all the "banging" completed. This morning, he is not well. He went and took a "roll with his face" in the grass. Doing it over and over. Putting his nose under the wet ground plant. He keeps rubbing his nose, could it be his teeth? He is doing the "dry mouth" routine. You can hear him with his mouth....licking his tongue around. He does not want his breakfast, I cannot even get him interested in a "cookie", now for him....you now know something is wrong!! I will take him in to the Doctor his afternoon. It destroys me when he is not well..... Anythoughts?

Update on Sage

Looking back over the last few months, it seems Sage would get sick and we always thought it was the Doggy Hotel. I always bring him home, give him a bath, wait a day and then apply his Flea and Tick treatment. ...we would just about be gone once a month...so the schedule remained the same. After giving it some serious thought, reading and checking out different thoughts on the internet, we have decided that he was sick each and every time we would apply "FIRST SHIELD TRIO" Flea & Tick single dose. After reading the side effects we realize that the monthly treatment is making him extremely sick. In reading the side effects, Sage fits the description 100%, except the "death" part. We purchase the treatment from Banfield Dog Hospital....they had thought it might be a toxic reaction to a substance that Sage had gotten into, and at the time the Doctor said it to me, I said, their is nothing around that he could get into...NOT thinking about the Single Dose of the Flea and Tick medicine. Anyways, he is now starting to be himself. I gave him a bath and scrubbed the area that I applied the treatment to.....it of course might have been a few days late, but it gave me some satisfaction. We hand fed him, let me sleep all day with no walks....gave him chopped ice and just kept him comfortable. It was heartbreaking to see him sick. No more FIRST SHIELD TRIO for our boy Sage.....

I'm so happy to hear you've figured it out. The flea and tick treatments can be very toxic to dogs, and people don't realize it. Our Pixie had seizures from Frontline (after being sick from coccidia as a puppy) and almost as soon as I stopped using it on her, the seizures stopped. I use a natural product now which, admittedly doesn't work as well, but she has been seizure free for two years. That's all the proof I need.

You might look into natural repellants for Sage. I use Nature's Defense, but recently started mixing apple cider vinegar and water (1 part to 3) in a spray bottle as recommended by someone here on the Forum, and it seems to be working.

Big pats for Sage and lots of treats! So glad he's feeling better!

Oh my goodness! That is so scary. Thanks for the update and I am happy to hear that you figured out what was happening. Poor puppy:sadsmile:
