Securing your Dog in Vehicle

I have harness but don't use them yet:cool::confused2: . I need to buy a seatbelt attachment that will attach to the harness (which was made for the car, but the way it is set up right now, you have to thread the seatbelt through the back of the harness and since I don't have lap belts, it means threading both the shoulder and the lap restraint through - which gives them no movement at all) So I need that seat belt extension, and I was thinking of getting a 'booster' seat too, so they can look out the windows, which they both love to do.
 
Smudge has associated car rides with the vets office. He HATES the vets office. It's the only time he protests. I have to sit him down inside the vehicle for a few minutes until I can put my keys, purse, ect. down. He goes crazy, bouncing all over the place! When he was smaller I put him in a pet taxi, but now he is too large. I bought a harness and a seatbelt attachement thing. I have a truck, and it is only one long seat with no backseats. There's no room at all for a crate, so the seatbelt attachment works out pretty well. :yes: Once he's all secured he settles down a lot for some odd reason. It's like magic.
 
Layla is pretty resigned to her seatbelt. When I'm traveling with all three, there's an argument between Layla and Annie as to who gets to sit in the front. Sigh -- just like kids!!
 
I have a harness for Sadie that I've used in the past for car rides but I've stopped using it on short trips. She hates the harness and refuses to go in the car when I've put it on her. No amount of positive training helps, she just doesn't like wearing it. She was initially leash trained with a harness and always associated it with good things. I'll still use it on long trips
 
Now I use a harness for Clancy...in our other car that could fit crates..we use those on long rides...Abby doesn't like being on the car seat...so shes usually on the floor wedged behind the drivers seat...prolly not the safest, but she isn't gonna fly anywhere...
I need to check out those hammock things..that sounds great..
