Shelly's turn to Shine!

What is involved in the test?:smile2:

To pass the CGC Test and receive a certificate, dogs must pass all 10 items of the test.
1. Accepting a friendly stranger
Evaluator approaches, shakes hands with the handler. Does not touch dog. ( The dog should stay nicely by your side as the evaluator shakes your hand)
2. Sitting politely for petting
Evaluator pets dog, dog must show no shyness or resentment.
3. Appearance and grooming.
Evaluator inspects dog, combs or brushes lighly, examines ears and each foot. (The dog should not move as this is being done)
4. Out for a walk
Handler takes dog for a short walk including right turn, left turn, about turn and stop.
5. Walking through a crowd
Dog and handler walk close to several people : the dog may show casual interest but not jump up.
6. Sit and down on command/Staying in place.
Handler shows dog can do sit and down, then chooses a position, leaves dog and walks away 20 ft and returns immediately. (The dog has to stay and can't move)
7. Coming when called
The handler walks away from the dog and then calls the dog. ( The dog must come and sit in front of the handler.
8. Reaction to another dog
Two handlers and dogs approach, shake hands, exchange pleasantries, moves on. Dogs can show casual interest.
9. Reaction to distractions
Distractions are presented: dog may not panic or show aggression
(Like a very loud noises the dog must stay by your side and not react)
10. Supervised Separation
Handler goes out of sight for 3 mins. Dog is held on a leash by an evaluator. (The dog should remain sitting or in the down and wait calmly for you)

I really think the hardest is number 9. I even jumped when I heard the loud sounds. LOL

Jeffrey and Shelly have been doing Obedience training together for awhile now. They are now starting to work on Agility.
