They are so sensitive to everyone's feelings. Glad you are feeling better.
Shelby is not big for being cuddly and very affectionate. But if either of us are upset she is right there. When my gram was dying from breast CA we would take Shelby into the nursing home to visit. My Gram always said Shelby was her favorite. Shelby knew that Gram was not well and she would lay next to my Gram and just let her hold her and pet her. My Gram would hold onto Shelby and fall asleep.
I take Shelby to visit at our local nursing home she seems to know which residents need a visit. She will spend extra time with them and allow them to just pet and snuggle her. Other residents she will just say hi and after a few minutes she is restless and barking to move along.
