Today was Shokas first ever time to compete in obedience. He will be 8 months old tomorrow and was by far the youngest dog competing. I had him entered in a special beginners class for handlers up to novice, where toys could be used as rewards after each exercise. He did the most amazing heal work and a lovely recall. His focus was on me the whole time and not once did he take his eyes of me. He didn't break his stay and was just amazing overall. We managed a 5th place out of 19 dogs some of which are in novice.

Simba was entered in beginners and was to distracted to do the heal of lead but his heal on lead was really good and his recall was better then I expected with all of the distractions and smells. For the first time ever Simba did both his sit and down stay without breaking either :D :D I couldn't have been more proud of both my boys today!!

Congratulations! That is very exciting and in such a young dog too! I have aspirations of some obedience work but with 3 kids and a full time career and training 30 minutes away .... Well we will see , i may be living the dream through you! My guy is 8 months and if we tried to do something like this no way could he do it right now, he is in and out of over excitable / brat stages lately! So that makes me extra happy for you!

Congratulations, that's amazing. I'm going to enter Piper in his first show (pre novice) June 4&5th, I hope he does as well as Shoka.
