Over the last few months I've noticed Tully's eyesight has worsened. When she was younger she was great at flushing out rabbits, nowadays she seems to miss lots of the rabbits. She used to have much better vision than Deska, but often has to follow Deska because he spots the bunnies first. She can't even catch a ball in her mouth (she was the former National flyball champ so balls were her thing). It may have been going on longer, but with her hip problem (and the hip replacement 12mths ago) she wasn't up to chasing bunnies or balls anyway.
I don't recall my other shelties having such a noticeable decline in sight so young - she is 7yrs old (will be 8 in a couple of months). And Deska's sight certainly isn't so bad. She does have Collie eye anomaly, but was diagnosed as 'unaffected'.
Has anyone else noticed a decline in sight at this age? Can the CEA be causing it, even though she is unaffected? I'm also wondering if the hip surgery could have affected her sight.
And the next question - anyone know of anything that can be done? We don't have an eye specialist in Canberra and I'm just not up to an interstate hike for this one.
