Skills and Drills?

Finally got ourselves some practice jumps for home! We've also got a straight (kids) tunnel and weave poles (that we are just using to wrap right now). Anyone know where I can get some 1-3 jump exercises/skills/drills? Books, websites, blogs, etc. I'm excited to get to work!

I really, really like Alphabet Drills. I think it probably usually asks for 4-5 jumps, but you can substitute a tunnel or weaves sometimes, or even just do parts of them.

I will say that having 4 jumps is a really great number. Box work makes for a million different possibilities!

I LOVE alphabet drills and have used them when teaching handling classes at my club. Most of them use 4 to 6 jumps and you can add/use tunnels and weaves to make a nice course (which I've done when designing Teacup courses when I'm judging). Using tunnels and weaves in place of jumps where it makes sense should give you some nice practice courses.

I'm also a huge fan of Alphabet Drills. I copied each drill onto seperate pieces of paper and then I can select the one I want to work on and pick out the particular excersises I need, stick the selection into a little plastic wallet (it was actually part of the packaging for my jumps!!) and then I don't need to cart the book around. It did take quite a long time to copy them all out (I did it at work LOL) but has been invaluable. Some of the drills I haven't tried (Q uses too many jumps) but just today I have been doing some of the U drills (3 jumps) for the first time. Alphabet drills help with handling, dog jumping skills and also remembering the course! It would be the book I would take to the hypothetical desert island (along with dog and jumps etc)!

The other resource I use quite often is One Jump Two Jump DVD by Sandy Rogers

I don't train everything on these guidelines (e.g. rear crosses) but there are plenty of really useful excersises. Now I have one 'proper' jump I'm reviewing the basics and have been doing quite a bit from here.

Susan Garrett also has Sucess with One Jump DVD

I don't have this one but it looks interesting.
