With four, all with different eating styles, it's a challenge. Bits and Annie inhale, and either will snitch Beckon's and Layla's if they get a chance. Beckon is slow to start, but finishes in good order. Layla would turn my hair grey if I didn'y dye it -- she refuses, delays, etc. We feed each Sheltie in a separate place. Layla's usually has to be done an hour or two after the others -- diva!!!!![]()
My little mini-mutt Jp eats like Layla so she also has a separate room closed off with a gate where she eats, but she is so slow that we cut a hole in the gate so she can come and go at her leisure.
Is that the reason my hair is going grey and I have to dye it?!!!You could always play scatter-the-kibble!

I like this idea!! With our hard wood floors and her food drive it will be like a food hunt on the slip and slide!!
I use a metal ball for Indy....I've noticed no significant slow down. Maybe about 10 seconds. He was smart enough to figure out how to roll the ball...I think he has it moving in sync with his snout now.
Frankly, I don't worry about it much. It was a real issue when Bacca was off his food and Indy would move and eat Bacca's food But every since Bacca has turned into a food hound as well, I don't really worry if they eat in 30 seconds flat. The burps, btw, are quite funny!!!
On another thread relating to using toys for feeding, I related my story about tripping and spilling Indy's dog food all over the floor. I'm with Chris....just scatter the food and let them roam for it!
In future, I might scatter it in the grass....will make it that much harder to find! Evil Mom!![]()
Sounds like Indy and Brie both solved the problem with the ball. I think Brie just sucks the food out from under it like a vacuum!!
I keep hearing about the sheltie burps but ours are not too bad. Our little JP however can burp like a trucker!!
The food toys seem to be a popular idea that I think I will have to try. I have used a couple of home made ones for entertainment but never thought about using it to feed them their meals.
