Solid gold puppy food

I need some advice on dog food please. My puppy is on Blue Buffalo chicken and Rice at the moment. We went to our holistic dog bakery yesterday and the lady there is recommending Solid Gold Puppy food that is lamb flavor. She gave us a sample of it and our puppy seems to really like it. Now, after tasting the lamb, she doesn't want to eat her usual blue buffalo chicken. I'm low on the bag so I need to go and buy more blue. Since she seems to like the lamb, would it be ok to switch or should I keep giving her usual blue buffalo food? Lady at the dog bakery says Solid gold is much better dog food than blue buffalo. Is this true? I know there's a lot of people here that feed their dogs blue buffalo. I did a quick Internet search and blue buffalo has 4 star rating while solid gold has 5 stars. Does 1 star rating make that much of difference?? This is our first puppy do I'm new at all this. Thank you so much for your input! :-)

Its better to ere on the side of caution with a puppy, you really don't want to have to deal with digestive upset. Go buy a small bag of the old BB food and transition the foods slowly.

I agree--if you're going to switch, transition slowly (I usually transition over a 4 week period).

As to your other question, about whether or not one star makes a difference, the answer depends on you. I've done a ton of research on foods in trying to find the best foods for my dogs.

There are all kinds of rating systems out there, and 5 star for one person might be 4 star for someone else.

I made a spreadsheet to compare different foods, and I included # of meat ingredients, calories, price, and % protein. I used it to help me decide what foods met my criteria. I shared the spreadsheet with friends, and another member of the forum added criteria that were important to her (% fiber, %fat). So what might be a "5 Star" food for me, might only be a "4 Star" for her. Does that make sense?

The best thing I can advise you to do, if you're serious about looking for a good food is to decide what is important to you. Do you see anything that your dog is doing or has that you want to change? For example, is the poop soft? Or, do you feel like you want to see a higher protein point? You have to set criteria before you can answer whether or not one food is truly better than another.
