Some People!!

right on!

If I had a penny for every time I had to body-block some salivating, stupid dog while his owner offered a half-hearted "Don't worry, he's FRIENDLY!" from several yards away...

I feel your pain! Tho' the best was when I had our old bossy-pants bitch Daisy - if someone let their rude dog get too close (and I always gave a warning, and do you think the dogs' owners ever listened? He's friendly!), she would show off her pretty teeth and give a long snarl. The owners always seemed to be suddenly capable of collecting their dogs then...

Your dog may be friendly, but mine may not!

As I wrote in another thread..."friendly" seems to be code for I haven't a clue how to train my dog or the desire, but thank goodness he has a personality trait of "friendly". I am forever BLOCKING, pulling OFF, and trying to separate my puppies from "well meaning" dogs that aren't trained at all. It gets old! And owners that obviously are CLUELESS, which makes me sad for the pet! And I love those people telling me that I am not socializing my dog. A trained pet, is a SOCIALIZED pet, capable of behaving appropriately in a variety of situations. Bad behavior is a sign of NOT socializing your pet propertly IMHO.
