Well he brought the ball back over a jump 
So currently he is bringing ball back it is rolled most of the time. He has no problem hitting the box but that is for food not to get the ball
. He is a jump taking fool though. He will do all the jumps both ways and never breaks out as he loves the jumps. So he is getting closer.
One thing though that makes him harder to train is you cannot let him go slow or he thinks up evil. Most dogs you break it into small segments then chain them together as they learn. Spitfire is horrible that way. The faster he goes the better he does. So one jump is hard but 4 is easy. If I am near the box he hesitates to get the ball but back up a jump and he does better (the opposite of most dogs).
Oh and he will play you given half a chance (more so when he slows down) He will gladly go down and back for a cookie but stops on the end and gives the coach loading the box his best cute Spitfire look to see if he can get cookies on both ends. And usually it works
He might still be running by the 1 year mark like Sca was though. Good news is I doubt he will chase like Sca did.

I am hoping when there is a dog in the other lane he will want to race him like he does Sca, in which case he would be lightning in a short bottle
