I just got an email from AKC today about the SpotLite 2.0 GPS tracking collar. I'm thinking about it, but I'm just wondering how reliable it is. Has any one here used it? The price is pretty high. Is there anywhere else besides from AKC that I can get it?:confused2:

A few months back I saw something on the news or online about gps dog collars. I'm sure if you google GPS dog collars you'll find that they're available at other places.

I've considered it, but collars can fall off, especially when they're on shelties. Plus if the dog is stolen the collar will likely be removed.

I know at Verizon Wireless they actually offer GPS collars for dogs as well. I thought about it while I was getting my new phone, but at least for my female, if she's running away, it will be because she slipped her collar which will then do me no good. My pup, maybe. But both are chipped and my female wears a collar with my parent's landline number on it and her name. My pup will be getting one soon-ish as well. We've done this for all of our dogs since I could remember and I like the idea, so will stick with it. Though at one point in AKC Agility you couldn't run with your dog's name on anything (you or the dog) so I would have to take off her collar. but now they lightened up a little and she can wear it again.

Petsafe offers one, but as others suggested it limited usage. Most use them for hunting dogs
