Start saving that dog fur!

I’d seen a post on Facebook by Dr.Becker regarding using dog fur in plants in place of peat moss. Researchers have been studying this to find other more sustainable methods rather than using peat moss and someone had suggested using dog fur. They didn’t think it would have any benefits but lo and behold plants actually did better with the dog fur than without!
I’m not sure about the use of flea or tick products in fur having any effects on plants however.
I will definitely be trying this out this Spring!

Now, that's different! I put ours out in the spring for the birds to use for nesting.

That is so cool! I may have to test it out in a few of my plant starts this year and see if I notice anything. I have 3 subjects here who can contribute quite regularly.

We put our collection out for birds and squirrels in the spring but maybe we have a new use-- I think I collect enuf for a 50 acre farm!!!
