The roofers were here all day yesterday, much to Bela's initial terror. I didn't get the Thundershirt on her fast enough.

She did settle down, but it was an extremely stressful day. Now, along with the undercoat shedding she's been doing, she's blowing a massive amount of outer coat.

Could stress do this to her? She'll soon be bald!
 
Poor thing :( I'm not an expert or anything but I'm pretty sure stress can be a contributing factor to fur loss. Maybe consider taking her somewhere else while the roofing is going on for the next few days? Even having her stay with a friend?
 
I don't know....they do loose their hair from stress, but in the same sense my dogs did a LOT of shedding a couple of weeks ago. I am guessing that you are a couple of weeks behind us in GA. It could be a combination of both.
 
The roofers only took one long, nerve-racking day. It is usually so quiet out here in the boonies that I don't notice unless something disturbing happens.

I gave her a good preliminary brushing last night, and this morning we had a two-hour line brushing and foot-trimming session. Fortunately, she loves being brushed.

So far, no more loose hair - just wait a few days!
 
I'm glad the roofers only took one day, too. The gutter guys were here yesterday and finished in about 30 minutes - Bela didn't even bother to wake up - just cracked an eyelid when the doorbell rang.

They also took away the trash rolloff, which for some reason, Bela hated to walk by. No amount of telling her that it wouldn't eat Shelties would convince her that it wasn't something sinister.

Now, we only have the big hole in the bedroom wall to be repaired. That will be on Tuesday, as they apparently don't make my vinyl siding anymore and had problems matching it.

The whole shedding picture is improving after yesterday's line-brushing. Plus, Bela's coat is getting longer, but in bits and pieces. One hairy little tipped ear grows like weeds, but the other looks like it's just been groomed. Right now, she's the poster child for why not to shave your Sheltie!
