suave shampoo?

suave shampoo

the breeder we bought one of our shelties uses suave shampoo on her dogs - she has about 10 dogs. I thought it was because it was cheaper than regular dog shampoos. I never tried it but I too read that it drys out their skin. Plus when we purchased our pups, i bought puppy shampoo and still have a lot left.

It IS a great place!

I've received so much caring feedback and advice since I joined. It's a lifesaver! And I'm totally addicted! Within an hour of bringing Indy home (and returning Ginnie to the breeder :cry:), I was on again, sharing the news.
 
I use Mane and Tail shampoo on Sadie and found that it makes her ruff glow white. The metallic finish on one of her tags rubbed off on her white ruff and turned it grey. I was afraid the stain would never come out, as my last bottle of dog shampoo didn't even touch the grey. The Mane and Tail easily removed the stain.

I get Mane and Tail at my local Walmart, its only a 6 or 7 dollars for a really large bottle, about twice the size of a human sized bottle of shampoo. It leaves her coat silky smooth and doesn't seem to dry her out. You can also buy Mane and Tail Conditioner :smile2:

I know this thread is pretty ancient, but I came across it looking through things -

I wanted to say that I have used human shampoo on my dogs for seven years. The first year I had Laika I tried every dog shampoo I could find, plain, oatmeal...everything in my price range. All gave her itchy skin. I tried Pantene one day, and was amazed. No itching, smelled good, and gave her a very shiny coat. I don't usually use suave, since I don't use it myself. I have used Pantene, Aussie, L'Oreal, and Sunsilk. Aztec and Laika both have nice coats - however, I do think shelties are supposed to have coarse outer coats. Aztec and Laika never got coarse coats, and I contribute that partially to the human shampoo. I don't really know.
 
If you
re going to use a human grade shampoo be certain it's a high quality one or one for children. I have tried the Mane and tail and it works great for the price. I Still prefer Johnsons Baby shampoo and pantene conditioner. along with the fish oil capsules given daily to help their coats and circulatory system. Great coat.
You will get so much advise and it's great isn't it. :cool:
