Temperament Test

since I never want my dog being near guns, no test for us. Drop a pile of metal dishes on steel boards if you want lots of sound but no guns, thank you much.

I agree there, I saw that part and my eyes got a little bigger. Although I want my dogs to be okay with loud noises, I don't think a sheltie needs that much craziness just for a test. I want mine to be used to loud noises so I'm working on that now. While they are playing I make scary noises-pots and pans, etc and they might stop playing for a couple seconds and then will carry on.

I'm surprised that 68% of shelties pass! I think a higher percentage of shelties would fail if their owners hadn't taken the time to get them accustomed to some of these situations. Many dogs' dispositions and tolerance are reflections of the time the owners have spent with them.

After thinking about it, I decided not to do it. I found out that the test is being administered at our agility field. The last thing I want is for Bailey to be scared of the place we practice agility.

I understand the CGN (CGC) test for the dogs but what is the reasoning behind putting a dog through this test?
