That sheltie expression

He is so cute--he could be my George's brother! I have a lovely tri-color, too, but George's eyes are more expressive. He can bring tears to his eyes if he really wants his treat! Love bi-blacks, but they are sooooo hard to get good pictures of--George doesn't like that "thing" mom points at him.

It's true....you either love "the look" or not. Bi and tri have very intense eyes. Sables have that softer brown that is melting. And there are the blue "Kujo" eyes, like my Callan. You have to get used to that too!

What's interesting to me is that Enzo actually has lighter brown eyes than my sable dogs. So in some cases, his eyes are softer (his striking face DOES offset that a bit, while the brown dogs' coloring is softer).

Very handsome! I love the total black bi face. Zulu has that intense look, but when needed, he can lay the sweetness on thick!

Personally i love bi blacks.

I think the sable mask gives an advantage to sables for showing expression.... And it's that classic image aka Lassie. Blacks are harder to catch in photos due to coloring and merles by nature of merling can distract the eye..... Neither means it isn't there. I Personally have noticed that the typical head and expression of aoac have softened alot and become more similar to sables over the last 15 or so years. Is it just me? I am hardly an expert but i do try to follow the breed and have since i was a teen.

Very handsome!! I just love their expressions! I think Shelby, our bi-black has more expressions than Hollie, our sable, did.

It was really a change for us getting Brooke after all sables, her eyes are almost black so there is no real contrast to her face, but the picture of her that started us on the road to getting her was on her breeder's website and showed her lovingly licking her newborn pup, and the love and sweetness on her face was astounding. I don't have a copy of that photo or I would post it.

It made me catch my breath when I saw it, and that's when I said out loud, "Oh, I would love to have that dog!" and lo and behold, seven months later she was ours!!!!

My DH still has a hard time reading her expression though.

The photo of Celtic does indeed show his inner sweet boy!
