The Figgin' Mystery

So right before Christmas, I walked into my study to find that someone had extracted a small package of chocolate covered figs from my gift stash and devoured every single one.

I was sure Layla was innocent -- she hardly eats her dinner, much less steals food, so that left four. No one was confessing.

I debated a vet run, then reconsidered. First, there really was very little chocolate involved. Second, it would cost a fortune to have four dogs checked and treated -- and three would be for no reason! Finally, it was figs, for gosh sakes. Those suckers were going to be out of somebody's system in a flash!

So we watched and waited. Nothing, no problems, and no one even returned to the scene of the crime! I'm betting on Annie because she has a cast iron stomach, plus she's the only one here who can lie with a straight face!

We had a similar problem at my parents house with all my mom's gifts from her kids (kindergarten teacher) dissapearing.. but the guilty parties were my dad, and my siblings and I :biggrin2:. She got A LOT of candy, so we were helping her! It was mostly my dad and siblings because I don't eat anything with tree nuts, so that eliminated most of the candy.

I'm glad that none of your dogs got sick from the chocolate!

If you came across another fig somewhere, you could tempt the shelties with it and see who tries to eat it first. Maybe he/she has developed a taste for them having already had a few.

OMG I bet you were concerned. Ain't funny, but I had to giggle Chris. I bet the wait stressed you out, who was going to have the runs.

Glad all turned out, but your treats are gone. Maybe Annie (if she is the one) figured you didn't deserve any treats but she did.

They sure can be little stinkers!

:yuckyuck

that is something Tessa would do, eats anything....cast iron stomach and a list a mile long

Shelby would do that too, however she can't lie about it. She likes to show off her special finds. At my in-laws suddenly she was prancing around showing off a cookie she found. Someone gave my MIL some cookies that tasted terrible so she had them in a bag in her sewing room ready for trash day. Shelby found the bag, chewed a hole in it and stole a cookie. Her mistake was showing us what she found, she could have had an entire bag of cookies if she wasn't so proud.

This is so cute. I have a male Sheltie now that gets the poopies and vomits over any thing. The male Sheltie I had before ate an whole angel food birthday cake I had made for my Father. HA! I am sure with three Shelties it makes it difficult to know who did what. This was a moment to treasure forever.
