Time for Fish Oil effects to start showing up

Yes, I am an impatient person. Dear Husband is worse, but I admit it, patience is a virtue and it isn't one that I really possess.

Anyway, we've switched the Belles' food. And we've started on Fish Oils. So the question is, is there a point when we'll be able to see if it's working?

Also, what exactly is the difference between Fish Oil, Salmon Oil, and Vitamin E, D and Omega Oils?

I'm starting to feel overwhelmed.

Hello,

from my experience it takes at least two months to see the results.

I don't know the difference between Fish Oil and Salmon Oil. I buyed the unic item of the store, not much to choose from

But it works great, you'll see the results are the results are evident, thick hair brighter.

what I noticed

I am in an arid climate, and when you don't supplement my shelties had drier skin and flaky skin. With my tri colored ones they aren't as glossy and don't have that sheen. I didn't really know about coconut oil until later in my previous girls life, that made a HUGE difference in her coat and skin sensitivities. I give them about a teaspoon daily, Savannah a little less because she is smaller, and my previous one got more because of her size. Kaleigh has gotten coconut oil and omega capsules (3-6-9 type-that is what my Vet suggested) on her food since I got her and she has such a pretty glossy coat. People always ask me what hair products I use on her, and I don't. Savannah being light sable, doesn't really shine, she is just super soft coated.

I would look at the skin and coat now, and then compare in a week or two, it should be noticeable.

Just overall skin and coat health. And since this is something I've never tried, I didn't know how long it would take to see if it's making any sort of difference. Just wanted to know a basic time period for my own curiosity really. I have zero experience with dry skin. But I need to learn since this is something the Belles seem to have now.

Years ago, at the advice of a vet, I began giving my dogs a half-teaspoon of bacon fat daily. My dogs' coats have all been sleek and shiny, no matter what other problems they might have had.

As I understand it, fish oil can be from any fish so the omega three content can vary. Salmon oil is the highest omega 3 content in fish, and also provides omega 6. For general coat health either would suffice I would think. Fish oil tends to be cheaper.
For serious problems I can't sing the praises of coconut oil loud enough. Koko's coat was basically destroyed and months of salmon oil did nothing. Coconut oil started helping in a month. Both boys gets under a tblsp a day now.

Disregard the 'fish oil' in mg thats listed on the bottle.
Thats a red herring... ba dump dum.

Look on the back and see how many mg of EPA and DHA are in each tablet. The cheaper stuff at Costco is around 300mg total, while the Trader Joe's I usually get is 830mg total, per capsule.

Salmon oil, Krill Oil, Paddock Oil, it really doesn't matter, just don't sub Cod Liver oil, as you do not want to OD Vitamin A orD.
The thing to do is figure out the unit cost.

Example:
$10- Costco 400 caps @ 300mg = 400 x 300 / 1000 = 120mg/$0.01
$8- TJ's 90 caps @830mg = 90 x 830 / 800 = 93mg/$0.01

In fact, there was recent medical research that calls into question some of the heart healthy claims.

However when I was taking it regularly @2400mg/day, I noticed a significant reduction in day to day soreness. I don't believe it was placebo effect either, as it seemed to return shortly after I stopped.

Costco is even better as they occassionally have a 2 for 1 offer on those big bottles.

Since dogs are omnivore/carnivores, I doubt they have any problem requiring additional Omega 6, though I haven't researched it.
