Tully needs hip replacement

Oh no! I'm just reading this thread now. I'm so so sorry to hear about Tully! I remember how much of a pocket rocket she is when we met. I do hope there will be a way to help her.

Please send Tully our love. We will keep her in our thoughts and prayers! :hugs

I just read this whole thread too. What a nightmare. The insurance thing is a real pain! Sending a prayer things will work out.:fl

Chris - Tully's 6yrs old and very fit and healthy (and high drive) so I have to do something for her. On the other hand with Deska I'm just going the conservative route as I don't think he'd handle surgery again. For him it's meds and supplements to reduce the pain and keep him happy for as long as I can.

I totally get it! That is young.

We had our follow up with the local specialist today so I got more info about the arthritis. She thinks dysplasia is an unlikely cause because all the other joints (elbows, knees and other hip) are well formed and that's usually not the case. Instead she thinks it could have been a minor case of Legg-Perthes (circulation cut off to the femoral head) or injury related. I'm thinking it was the bad fall she had on the see saw - when she thought it was the dog walk and raced up so fast it didn't have time to drop and she flew off. Had to take several months off for her to recover but my vet never did x-rays or gave a diagnosis.

So it's looking like hip replacement in October. Have to get a kilo off her and strengthen the right leg more first (atm there is 4cm difference to her already skinny left leg). And I learnt from Deska's surgery bones repair better in warm weather than in winter.
