Tully Spring update

Spring has finally arrived in this side of the world so I thought I'd give a spring update on my old lady.

Tully is now 16yrs and 4mths, and she's showing every bit of it. I think she's hurt her cruciate again - she's basically walking on her rear pastern on one side. This week she's started falling over and can't do the front ramp, so she's definitely had a set back - I think my fault for allowing her to walk too far.

She's been getting a lot of tummy issues since getting a third Beransa injection (it's the newest pain relief drug for arthritis). I'm wondering if the Beransa has set off her immune system or there is some other reaction or drug interaction going on. I can't get hold of her Specialist and really don't know what to do other than bottom washes and phew, stinky butt.

But she still has short plays with Kis and always wants to go for a walk so that's good.

Love this picture of Tully!!!! She has gained a sweet spot in my heart during my time here. What a beautiful lady she is!!!! Sorry to hear she is injured again but glad she is able to play a bit regardless.

She looks really good for her age and issues, Caro! She is a fighter for sure. Our seniors are so special even though they require lots of help and attention. I joke that it's a tossup whether Checkers or I take more meds. Every day is worth it though. Pats to sweet Tully!

the senior years are so precious.... the extra work becomes part of life. Looking back I see the decline of Gavin's last year more clearly. But we shared so much love (and snuggles and cuddles and kisses) those later years. that is what makes it so special. smelly butt aside..

You can just see her spirit in her eyes. What a tough yet sweet senior girl. At this age you just hold your breath as issues come up. My vet has mentioned there's a new injection coming for arthritis pain, I guess it's been approved in Europe for a while. Hope her tummy settles down. What a blessing she's still with you.

Yep I'm the same - although I know Tully takes way more meds than me now. I've had to get 3 pill dispensers, one for me, one for Tully and now one for Della.

Looking back I see the decline of Gavin's last year more clearly.

The years since 14 have been a steady decline, basically since she hurt her hock. She still wants to be involved with visitors and wants to go out, but she's also in pain (and will be more if I have to stop the Barensa). It's really hard balancing a 3yr old dog with it and my poor mobility. I'm so lucky a friend takes Kismet on a morning walk so that takes some pressure off.

For some reason Australia always gets dog medications first - almost like we're the experiment. It's only been out since early in the year so I think some of the long term issues are yet to be seen. It's pretty expensive though, about $90pm.
