Thank you all for your great suggestions! Broken limbs are new to me so I appreciate the support. I did ask the vet for a mild tranquilizer, but haven't used it yet. She seems to have become more accepting of her confinement to the crate. The sock on her leg is still working, but should she have a bandage without the splint I will try one of the suggestions. Right now the splint helps keep the sock up. When she is allowed to walk more tying the leash to me is a great idea. At our last appointment the vet said the wound looked good and the stitches will come out on the 14th day, which will be next week. She is off the tramadol, but continues with rimadyl and the antibiotic. Fortunately she loves peanut butter so she gets the pills in about a 1/2 tsp of it. Getting enough water into her is more of a problem, so I have been adding chicken broth to her kibble, watering down her 1Tbs. of yogurt, and adding a little peanut butter to some water. Yesterday she dashed out of the crate and gimped to the other side of the room. I told her to sit and stay and, by god, she remembered and did! Whew! If I had gone after her right away she would have wanted to play chase.
Here are some pictures of the poor jailbird.

Glad she is doing better. It is so hard to keep them calm. Before you know it she will be free of that splint.

Shelby is not a big drinker either so I add 1/3 cup of water to her food.

Love her pictures. Poor girl!
