USDAA Mid Atlantic Regional

I went to the Regional because I needed one more Grand Prix Q for the Cynosports Games(Nationals) in October. Thursday night was the local qualifier. Unfortunately I pulled Trax out of the weaves around the 10th pole by turning my shoulders too soon.

But luckily we qualified and placed 5th in the Regional Grand Prix! We also qualified in Steeplechase on Saturday. In the second round of Grand Prix on Sunday, we went off course, had a refusal and also a knocked bar I think, so no bye for Nationals for us. In Steeplechase I was all over the place. I had to reset Trax because of running past jumps twice and I almost ran him right off course, but pulled him off at the last second. Amazingly we were clean but our time was so far off we would've never been close to getting a bye or winning any money.

But the best run goes to my daughter Jordan! Thursday night she tried her hand at qualifying for Regionals. Her steeplechase was beautiful! They knocked a bar in the spread jump on the way out and even without that, they were a second away from the cutoff time. Like we told her though, she was going against some of the top dogs, so she was very proud of her accomplishment! Here's her run! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrt1aOKhywA

Congratulations! Trax and Maverick are so good, nice speed.

So does this mean you qualified for USDAA Nationals with Trax? Another question, what is the difference between steeplechase and grand prix?

Your daughter is adorable. I love watching kids run agility. I hope to see you both in action at Sheltie Nationals in 2015!

Thanks! Yes, I'm qualified for USDAA Nationals in Team, Grand Prix and Steeplechase. In order to qualify(in each type of run) you have to have 2 Q's in GP, 2 in Steeplechase and 1 in Team.

Steeplechase is a fast course(like Time 2 Beat if you've ever done that). If you qualify and make the cutoff(top 25% of dogs I think) then you go on to the second round to compete for money.

Grand Prix is well I don't know. It's like standard but without a table. :biggrin2:

the weaves in Jordan's run were awesome:yes:

I know! Considering just 3 months ago she was crying her eyes out because he wouldn't do the weaves at all in competition, he's done an amazing transformation! Now if we could just get him to stop on his stinking dog walk! :biggrin2:

let me know what you try for the dogwalk- Cran has issues there and is only in JWW and T2B at our next trial.....

Well last night we had class. First time out, Maverick bounced the Dog Walk, Jordan said, "Uh Oh", picked him up and took him inside to a crate. Then I ran Trax. She brought Maverick back out again and he bounced again, so she took him back to the crate and I ran Trax. Well sure enough, the third time he went right to the bottom and waited like a good boy :wink2: And every time after that he hit his contact and patiently waited to be released.

We will see how it goes at the show this weekend. She may have to pull him on Saturday, but I'm willing to bet that by Sunday he will be staying on his contact.

**To All** We don't need to start any kind of debate over pulling a dog off a course or how horrible we are...Thanks :smile2:

ahh- the jealousy factor. I can try that with Cran and Dix.
He did teach her how to do the Aframe- one day it was a big scary thing and the next day, after she followed him over it- it was no big deal:winkgrin:
I like the idea of turning the tables:yes:
